Entrepreneurship Economics program started (News Cover)

Masters in Entrepreneurship Economics programme in DScE (Daily Observer: 12 August, 2018)

Dhaka School of Economics (DScE) under the University of Dhaka started Masters programme in entrepreneurship Economics. Prominent economist and Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmed is current chairman of the governing council of DScE. Course co-coordinator Prof Dr Muhammad Mahbub Ali said that the curriculum has been designed in such a way so that the students can develop their entrepreneurial role for the country’s development and progress. In addition to being self-sufficient, they can generate employment and help to reduce unemployment rate in Bangladesh.

Dhaka School of Economics (DScE) is a constituent institution of the University of Dhaka, has begun offering of the program on Master Economics (Entrepreneurship Economics) under supervision of Leading Economist Dr. Qazi kholiquzzaman Ahmad. Program coordinator is Economist Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali who is also Entrepreneurial specialist.

On successful completion of the program students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the economic traits and roles of an entrepreneur.
2. Demonstrate the use of economics to analyze entrepreneurial markets and behaviors.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurial financing and capital arrangements.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of public policy and constraints on entrepreneurs.
5. Analyze and present an analysis of entrepreneurial policy.

Course No. MEE 001: Three non-credit lectures on Bangladesh Studies (Emergence of Bangladesh and current status of socio-economic, historical background and perspectives) at the beginning of the program.

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Dhaka School of Economics (DScE),which is constituent Institution of University of Dhaka, has started class of Master of Economics(Entrepreneurship Economics) Programme.

“This program will motivate to entrepreneurial ability and visionary leadership to develop the economy,” Chairman of the Governing Council of DScE Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said while inaugurating the programme on Saturday.

The senior economist hoped that business incubator will be established in due course of time.

Coordinator of the programme Professor Muhammad Mahboob Ali Post Doctorate(Entrepreneurship) commented that this program is designed to putting emphasis on developing industry need based and pro people centric development of the economy of Bangladesh with bench marking of global exposure.

In future at undergraduate level the program may start for youth entrepreneurs, employment opportunity and giving soft skill emphasis, Dr. Ali also added.

The duration of the programme is 1.6 years and total 13 courses related to entrepreneurial economics.
Among others, faculty member Rehena Parvin also attended the programme.

The DScE earlier introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Enterprise Development programme aiming to develop new entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.

দেশে প্রথমবারের মতো উদ্যোক্তা অর্থনীতি বিষয়ের ওপর স্নাতকোত্তর কোর্স মাস্টার্স ইন এন্টারপ্রাইজ ইকোনমিকস প্রোগ্রামস চালু করেছে ঢাকা স্কুল অব ইকোনমিকস (ডিএসসিই)। উদ্যোক্তা সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নকে আরও বেগবান এবং কর্মোদ্যমকে জাগ্রত করার প্রয়াসে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অঙ্গীভূত প্রতিষ্ঠান ডিএসসিই এ উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে।

বিশিষ্ট অর্থনীতিবিদ ও পল্লী কর্ম সহায়ক ফাউন্ডেশনের (পিকেএসএফ) চেয়ারম্যান কাজী খলীকুজ্জমান আহমদ বর্তমানে ডিএসসিইর গভর্নিং কাউন্সিলের চেয়ারম্যানের দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন। এ বিষয়ে তিনি বলেন, দেশে কারিগরি ও বৃত্তিমূলক শিক্ষাকে যুগোপযোগী করার পাশাপাশি বৈশ্বিক পর্যায়ে বাংলাদেশকে শক্তিসম্পন্ন অর্থনীতির দেশ হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে উদ্যোক্তা অর্থনীতির বিকল্প নেই। এ জন্য উদ্যোক্তা উন্নয়ন ও উদ্যোক্তা অর্থনীতির বিকাশ ঘটাতে হবে।

কোর্সের সমন্বয়ক ডিএসসিইর অধ্যাপক অর্থনীতিবিদ মুহম্মদ মাহবুব আলী জানান, দেশে প্রথমবারের মতো উদ্যোক্তা উন্নয়ন বিষয়ে স্নাতকোত্তর প্রোগ্রাম চালু করা হয়েছে। এ পাঠ্যক্রম এমনভাবে তৈরি করা হয়েছে যাতে শিক্ষার্থীরা নিজেদের উদ্যোক্তা হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার মাধ্যমে দেশের উন্নয়ন ও অগ্রগতিতে ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে। নিজেরা স্বাবলম্বী হওয়ার পাশাপাশি কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি করে বেকারত্ব হ্রাসে সহায়তা করতে পারে। বাংলাদেশ আজ যে অগ্রযাত্রার পথে শামিল হয়েছে, তা টেকসই করার ক্ষেত্রে উদ্যোক্তা অর্থনীতির মাস্টার্স কোর্স বিশেষ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন।

দেড় বছর মেয়াদি এ কোর্সে ইতিমধ্যে উন্নয়নকর্মী, সাংবাদিক, ব্যাংকার, সরকারি প্রশাসনের কর্মকর্তাসহ বিভিন্ন পেশার ২৪ জন শিক্ষার্থী ভর্তি হয়েছেন। সব মিলিয়ে কোর্স ফি বর্তমানে ৭০ হাজার টাকা।
